1 In the context of the Jesus story
The Authority of Jesus Mark In the context of the Jesus story

2 27 Again they came to Jerusalem
27 Again they came to Jerusalem. As he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to him 28 and said, “By what authority are you doing these things? Who gave you this authority to do them?” 29 Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30 Did the baptism of John come from heaven, or was it of human origin? Answer me.” 31 They argued with one another, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ 32 But shall we say, ‘Of human origin’?”— they were afraid of the crowd, for all regarded John as truly a prophet. 33 So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”

4 = The authority of Jesus The kingdom/rule of God
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

5 Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.” 21 They went to Capernaum; and when the sabbath came, he entered the synagogue and taught. 22 They were astounded at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. 23 Just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, 24 and he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God.” 25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” 26 And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him. 27 They were all amazed, and they kept on asking one another, “What is this? A new teaching—with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” 28 At once his fame began to spread throughout the surrounding region of Galilee.

8 A cosmic war: rule of God versus all the “powers”
The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him (14:1). Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them (14:10). With him there was a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders (14:43). They took Jesus to the high priest; and all the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes were assembled (14:53). As soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. They bound Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate (15:1). When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon (15:33). A cosmic war: rule of God versus all the “powers”

9 = The resurrection! Christus Victor
He forgave us all our trespasses, erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it (Colossians 2:13-15).
