2015 Survey on museums and similar institutions
Inter-Institutional collaboration: 3 years protocol with Italian Ministry of cultural goods and activities and tourism and with regional and autonomous administrations Census: not only museums are observed but also all other institution of the same type in Italy, private and public. Response rate 98% 2015 Data presented are provisional. 85% museums, gallerys or collections

Regions with the higher number of censed institution:
52% of archeological areas are located in South Italy Toscana: 564 Emilia- Romagna: 501 48% of museums and 38% of monuments are located in North Italy The most part of non state museums (48%) are in the North, while state museums are mostly in the Center (38%) Piemonte: 437 MUSEUMS, ARCHEOLOGICAL AREAS AND MONUMENTS IN ITALY Silvia Talice - Istat, Eurostat WGCS23/11/2016

Networks among museums/istitutions

Half of visitors is in 3 Regions
About 110 milions of visitors have been in an italian museum or similar institution during 2015. 182 visitors every 100 inhabitants. Dispersion of offer and concentration of demand

76% of censed museums has been visited by foreign citizens

Spatial clustering and relating
Examples: Bulding an area within a certain distance from an actractive museum pole to include minor but interesting cultural attactrations. Analyzing spatial relations among culture indicators to achive new vision of the local cultural context.
