2 Accomplishments Swept all statewide offices for the 8th consecutive election ( ) Voted for a Republican Governor for the 5th consecutive election ( ) Gained three seats in Congress. Gained 25 seats in the Texas House. Gained 25 Court of Appeals / District Judge / District Attorney seats. Gained 270 local county offices. The three congressional gains are: CD-17 (Bill Flores defeated Chet Edwards) CD-23 (Quico Canseco defeated Ciro Rodriguez) CD-27 (Blake Farenthold defeated Solomon Ortiz)
