Suprahyoid muscle MylohyoidDigastricStylohyoidGeniohyoid

SUPRAHIOD MUSCLE Mylohyoid muscle Origin Insertion Nerve supply Action Mylohyoid line on the inner surface of the mandible The fibres run downwards and medially as follow: posterior fibres are inserted into the body of the hyoid the remaing fibres are inserted into the median mylohyoid raphe Mylohyoid nerve; a branch of mandibular nerve ✔ Elevates the hyoid ✔ depress the mandible

SUPRAHIOD MUSCLE Digastric Muscle Origin Insertion Nerve supply Action ▫ into a common tendon attached to the junction between the body and greater horn of hyoid Anterior belly: Digastric fossa of mandible posterior belly: Mastoid notch medial to mastoid process ✔ Elevates the hyoid bone during deglutition. ✔ depress the mandible. Anterior belly : Mylohyoid nerve; a branch of mandibular nerve posterior belly : facial nerve

SUPRAHIOD MUSCLE Stylohyoid muscle Origin Insertion Nerve supply Action TRY NOW From the middle of styloid process # Elevates hyoid bone during swallowing # and pulls it upwards and backwards Facial nerve junction between the body and greater horn of hyoid its lower end bifurcates around the intermediate tendon of digastric muscle inserted by 2 slips

SUPRAHIOD MUSCLE Geniohyoi d muscle Origin Insertion Nerve supply Action From the lower genial tubercle Into the interior surface of the body of hyoid bone Fibres from C1 which is carried by the hypoglossal nerve Elevates hyoid bone upwards and forward
