2 What is Energy? Energy is the ability for motion
Can someone demonstrate the use of enegy? (class moves) Explain that enegy is the ability for motion and introduce that there are many different kinds of energy.

3 Potential Energy The energy of an objected based on its position.
As seen in the slide the high elevation of something gives it more energy as it can move down the hill with all the potential energy that it has. Potential energy is the possibility of something to release energy. Think of it like stored kinetic energy

4 Kinetic Energy Kinetic Energy is energy in motion, built up from potential energy Discuss how riding a roller coaster experiences kinetic energy.

5 Law of Conservation of Energy
Energy is not created or destroyed, it is only transferred into another form of energy can compare this to legos: a model may be disassembled but it can be changed and still have all the same parts. if you want to continue the analogy: some parts may get lost in rebuilding this is kind of like heat. Often energy is lost as heat in transformations of energy.

6 Energy Transfer Energy transfers from one object to another, and can change from one form to another Explain what a Newton’s cradle is and how it demonstrates energy transfer

7 Forces and Gravity Gravity is the attraction between two objects. Forces are any push and pull. Gravity is present for all things. The bigger something is, the greater gravitational force it has. This is why we stay glued to the earth and why you would weigh less on the moon. Its also why the planets orbit the sun, because the sun has greater gravitational pull than the planets do.

8 Velocity Velocity is speed with direction!
It can be measured in Miles Per Hour (MPH) Discuss with class how Kobe takes 3 Thunders players to the cleaners with his disgusting low post moves, which requires lots of velocity to perform.
