1 The Last Judgment – A vision of Hell
Luca Signorelli The Last Judgment – A vision of Hell This Powerpoint slideshow presentation briefly look at the most important and well-known work of Luca Signorelli, one of the painting during the High Renaissance. The Last Judgment is a series of paintings decorate the Chapel of Brizio, in the Umbria town of Orvieto. The main episodes of the series are – The Coming of Apocalypse, The Sermon of the AntiChrist, The Resurrection, Christ the Judge, The Elected, The Damned, Hell and Paradise. To me the greatest achievement of this piece of work is the vivid imagination of the artist in communicating his vision of the Last Judgment. Michelangelo must have taken in some of the images created by Signorelli and adding his own imagination to his presentation of the Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel. As painting techniques goes Michelangelo is no match for Leonardo da Vinci, but his vision and his presentation of the Last Judgment must be ranking as one of the greatest paintings of all time.
