2. Before the Persecution
The Roman Government had no quarrels with the Christians at first.
Christianity was very unusual to the Roman people. When people do not understand something they become afraid of it.

3. Practice? You’re not talking about the Religion
Christians refused to follow everyday Roman practices.
Christianity’s practices were so abnormal it led to Christians being wrongfully categorized. (Accused of murder, cannibalism, and having orgies)

4. The First Big Persecution
Emperor Nero begins first big persecution. Kills Peter and Paul during this time.
Emperor Nero used the Christians as scapegoats after most of Rome was burned in a disastrous fire.
Why doesn’t anyone like me?

5. It Continues… Christian persecution continued with the actions of:
Domitian (mean)
Trajan and Pliny (both mean)
Marcus Aurelius and Septimus Severus (also mean)
Decius (still mean)
Diocletian (bruh, this guy)
Galerius (alright, I guess)

6. So why? The Roman Empire was undergoing internal difficulties.
Christianity refused to follow the traditional Roman practices.
Roman citizens feared a new religion that was gaining so many followers rapidly. Because of Christ’s sacrifice, forgiveness, Heaven, and eternal life.
