2. Background
TF on working time recommended in Dec 2015 a model questionnaire to LAMAS for the main job
Hours worked in second jobs not included
LAMAS asked TF2 to tackle the issue of hours worked in the second job:
How many variables should be used for measuring working time in the second job
Where they/it should be placed in questionnaire

3. Work of TF2 TF2 recommend to: Question on HWACTUA2 will start with:
measure HWACTUA2 with 1 variable, consisting of 1 question
add a new variable to the core LFS, to measure usual hours in second job, HWUSUA2
placed with other questions on second job
Question on HWACTUA2 will start with:
'Please exclude days off, vacation days, time off, sick leave and over-time'
Under-measurement of people with a second job

4. Work of TF1
Not add a sub module for second job similar to sub module 'At work'
Better to include a general question on second job early in the questionnaire, to detect presence of second job early in the interview
TF1 agreed to include a question like:
'Is it your only job/work or do you have another job/work, including as a family worker?
Need for a clear definition of second job, especially for self-employed

5. LAMAS consultation on HWACTUA2

response of better quality if placed with other questions on actual hours
inclusion of all jobs (not only the second one)
change order of sentences in model questionnaire ("In total, during…" then "Please exclude…")

30/38 delegates agreed
Comments :
need to collect this information for other jobs (3rd job, etc.)
possible confusion for respondents without a continuous involvement in the second job

8. LAMAS is invited to:
take note of the agreement for inclusion of HWACTUA2 to the core LFS (with 1 question)
agree on the new wording for the starting statement for HWACTUA2
take note of the majority wish of adding HWUSUA2 to the core LFS
agree on the testing of three questions (HWACTUA2, HWUSUA2 and detection of 2nd job)
