2 Central Idea The central idea is the main point of a passage or text.
The central idea is what the story/text is about.

3 Central Idea The central idea is usually stated in a topic sentence that identifies the key point. Look for the central idea at the beginning of a paragraph.

4 Central Idea The central idea may be stated or implied.
The author will not always tell you what the central idea is. Sometimes you have to THINK and figure it out on your own.

5 Central Idea The central idea is supported with details.
The supporting details give examples, provide explanations, and offer reasons.
