Lesson objectives:
To know that Christians believe in one God made up of three persons (the Trinity)
To understand the different roles that the Trinity play
To consider the importance of the Trinity for Christian belief and how it may affect their actions

The Trinity refers to the three persons within one God:
God the Father
God the Son
God the Holy Spirit.
There are three distinct persons.
Each person is God.
But, there is only one God.

3. How can this be?
Sometimes the Trinity is compared to water. Although, it is the same thing, it can come in different forms:

Stick in your diagram of the Trinity in the middle of your page
You have been given descriptions of each part of the Trinity
With the person next to you, work out which description goes with which part of the Trinity and stick it in the correct place
Extension: write down any questions that you have about the Trinity

5. Questions Once you have finished, answer the following questions:
1) Why do you think it might be a comfort to Christians to know that God has come to Earth in human form?
2) Why is it encouraging for Christians to know that God has given them His Holy Spirit to be with them?

6. The Characteristics of God
Christians believe that God is:
The Creator and Sustainer (keeps things going)
Omni-benevolent (all-loving)
Omnipotent (all powerful)
Omniscient (all knowing)
Omni-present (present everywhere)
Write a couple of sentences explaining how believing this would affect a Christians actions in the following scenarios:
A) The way Christians treat the environment
B) The way Christians might respond when they are faced with suffering
C) The way Christians might treat one another

7. Design your own symbol! Draw your own symbol to represent the Trinity
Remember that it must illustrate the idea that, although there are three different persons, there is still One God.
