1 The Deep Sea Anglerfish

2 Inherited Traits The Anglerfish has skin instead of scales.
It’s skin is dark brown- ish, gold-ish, black. It reflects blue in order to blend into the sea.

3 Special Features of the Anglerfish
It has a fin called the esca on the top of it’s head. It looks like dangling bait and get’s the Anglerfish’s prey to come close enough to eat! It has big, huge jaws that allow it to swallow prey twice it’s size! It’s teeth are angled inwards so that it’s prey cannot escape!

4 Where does it live? It is found in all the salty waters all over the world. It lives 3,300 feet under the water.

5 What does it eat? The Anglerfish does not sleep!
It eats krill, small fish, and big fish. A group of Anglerfish is called a school! How cool!

6 Behaviors An Anglerfish is slow to blend in, but when prey comes close, it strikes quickly! It wiggles it’s light to get prey to come close enough to eat!

7 Interesting Facts! There are more than 200 species of Anglerfish!
An Anglerfish can get up to 3 feet long! It can weigh up to 100 pounds!
