Instrumental Trans-communication
EVP London The Greetings Project New Experiments in Instrumental Trans-communication Hi everyone, thanks for coming. I’m Sean Richards and for the benefit of those who didn’t see my talk at last years’ SPR conference in Leeds, to give some background. I have a lifelong interest in all things occult and paranormal, I developed an interest in ITC in 2014 when over the summer I read most of the substantial literature in this field (Fredrick Jurgerson, Konstantin Raudive, Ernst Senkowski, David Ellis, Sarah Estep, Mark Macey, Tom and Lisa Butler, Judith Chisholm, Richard Sheargold, Theo Locher and Margaret Harsch Fischbach, Anabela Cardoso and Alexandra MacRae and many others and I was so intrigued by their reported results that I decided to try to have a go at recording evp and paranormal images using ordinary digital voice recorder and sound and video apps on computers. EVP London The Greetings Project
The Tarot Card the Fool represents human folly and ignorance but also the need to explore and discover, and I very much feel like him in regard to conducting ITC experiments, it can often seem like a fool’s errand. You can see he holds a wooden staff and has his belongings wrapped in a sack carried on his shoulder, perhaps these represent what drives an evp experimenter, his motivations, seeking answers to those eternal questions about the meanings of life and death, and the ideas which guide the direction of his research. In some Tarot decks one can see that he is about to walk over the edge of a cliff, blissfully unaware of the perilous nature of his situation – he is not looking where he is going, always looking back, perhaps taking a selfie. The dog biting his behind, perhaps represents the sceptics and his own inner critic, hastening him to either make the leap or to pull himself back to safety? It is the absurdity of the human condition which is alluded to here. ITC experiments are also full of paradox and absurdity. Little of it makes much sense, but what can be subjected to rational analysis is quite phenomenal. The Greetings Project

Recap Greetings Project ITC Experiments 2015 - 2017
EVP London Recap Greetings Project ITC Experiments Confirmation of anomalous voices by Anabela Cardoso at the ITC Journal, Tom Butler at AtranS and Ron Ruiz at I-Digital Medium. 3 Successful group experiments August to Oct 2016 Highlights: obtaining consistently recognisable EVP voices Over 180 names recorded Hundreds of personally meaningful messages received (names, places, links, events) but hundreds which make little sense Building and tests of the Black Box Recorded about 70 trans-images of anomalous faces recorded using a webcam pointed at the laptop screen Setting up the website After I had recorded evp successfully for a few months I sent a sample of evp to.. EVP London Linguistic Analysis N=836 evp
At the end of the first year I conducted a linguistic analysis of the evp based a sample of 836 evp using these categories adapted from John Herons 6CIA

EVP London In the messages, the voices state they are spirits existing in another dimension.

EVP London The Astrii Black Box Inhibits acoustic sounds, TV, telephone, radio and internet signals. Professional studios are very expensive to hire in London and I have no access to technical support for building a double screened room so I built myself a control box I call the Astrii or Black Box. Describe the build. Tests with the mobile and IPad. Setting up for recording and Play Recordings. The Greetings Project

The astrological and mythological references here are interesting. This is the tarot Card The Priestess – she is personified in the myths of Demeter and Roman Diana, Goddess of the Moon and as Isis in the Egyptian pantheons where she represents intuition, psi, mediumship and she rules over the astral worlds. The Greetings Project 30 31

EVP London Interviewing the communicators
Clear and corroborated dialogical responses from consistently recognisable voices which repeatedly give personal evidential content are hard to dismiss as signal breakthrough or pareidolia. I’ve tried to interview the communicators to record dialogical responses. The Greetings Project

Audibility and interpretation of evp
EVP London Audibility and interpretation of evp Class (Volume/Clarity) Peak db. (mean) % AA to AC 0 db. And above 10 BA to BC -12 to -21db. 30 CA to CC - 27 to -33 db. 60 One reason why people can become frustrated with evp as a form of mediumship is a) you have to wait for playback –unless you can get direct radio voice – Bacci in Italy. And the voices are often hard to hear even with modern sound processing software and then there’s the question of interpreting what they say and what if anything it means. EVP London Ghosts in the (Flying) Machine Spontaneous Anomalous ITC Phenomena Retrieving the Dell from the garage, couple of test recordings and taking a flight in the sim. Rain, thunderstorms, engine noise sound files contain evp. These were not found recorded over ATC radio or cabin crew sound files containing recorded speech. Implications - communicators knew the best files to use and the best place on the files to leave messages. The Greetings Project
23
Rain loops, wind loops and
EVP London Rain loops, wind loops and Quantum evp EVP which can change over time …and appear in real-time I’ve been trying to record a loop of rain to use to replicate the Flight simulator phenomenon – but I am having problems recording a loop of natural rain with no evp’s on it. EVP’s which pre-empt experimenter’s words The Greetings Project
24
EVP London Evaluation It is difficult to verify the paranormality of trans-images. It is difficult to hear and agree interpretations of a majority of evp’s (Leary 2013) and it is difficult to completely rule out signal breakthrough. Pareidolia may account for quiet unclear and distorted anomalous sounds. Although some loud and clear examples of dialogue with the experimenter have been confirmed collaboratively there are still problems with low volume and poor clarity and what Alexander MacRae (2005) calls ‘Random Stochastic Responses’ – in other words gibberish, gobbledegook. Play RSR The Greetings Project 29
25
EVP London Limitations: Project needs more rigorous use of controls
Pareidolia may explain some images and weak or obscure evp Signal pickup may explain some evp - but common radio transmissions were not found recorded in over 90 recording sessions (no sport, weather, discussions, advertising or jingles or pop music) When they are clear, communicators’ messages do provide personally relevant information - but with limited information given about them which can be externally validated The Greetings Project
26
EVP London What’s next ? The Greetings Project
Testing and improving the Black Box for a Version 2 Recording more images and dialogical evp’s to try to identify some of the communicators Replicate Spontaneous flight sim EVP’s using rain loops Record outdoors (but not in London) Offer services to paranormal investigators The Greetings Project

My book should be out by the end of the year, but it has been delayed a little because I am still writing up and Anabela Cardoso has just recently published a new book ‘Electronic contact with the dead, what do the voices tell us’. So there’s a need for a bit of a gap to let the ITC community absorb that. I’ll let the SPR know when my book is available (Lulu)
