1 Eukaryotic Cell Structure
Floating Question: What two organelles do plant cells have that animal cells do not? Floating Answer: A plant cell has choloroplasts and a cell wall.

2 Nucleus: Directs activity of cells organelles
“The Brain” or “The Boss” of the cell

3 Mitochondria: Transform chemical energy from food into useful energy for both plant and animal cells. “Power House”

4 Endoplasmic Reticulum: Site where lipids for membranes are assembled along with proteins. Two Types: Smooth and Rough

5 Ribosomes: Where proteins are assembled according to the DNA directions.

6 Golgi bodies: Sorts, packages proteins and materials into structures called vesicles then “ships them out”

7 Lysosomes: Remove waste using digestive enzymes

8 Vacuole: Saclike structure used for storage (water, food and enzymes) Large single one in plant cells

9 Cytoplasm:Jelly-like substance that supports and protects cell organelles

10 Cell Membrane: Controls movement of materials in/out of the cell
Cell Membrane: Controls movement of materials in/out of the cell. Maintains homeostasis.

11 Golgi Vesicles: Transports things from the ER (endoplasmic reticulum) to the Golgi Body

12 Centrioles: Separate chromosome pairs during mitosis

13 Microtubules: Move vesicles and organelles via attachment proteins
“Conveyer Belts”

14 Nucleolus: Makes ribosomes

15 Pinocystotic Vesicle: Vesicle that contains a fluid or solute being that is ingested into a cell through endocytosis (indent on the cell membrane...looks like pac man)
