2 Health Tip of the Day Comminuted skull fractures, those in which a bone is shattered into many pieces, can result in bits of bone being driven into the brain, lacerating it.

Target Heart Rate—a heart range that the most cardiorespiratory health will occur

4 Aerobic Exercise Vigorous activity in which oxygen is continuously taken in for at least 20 minutes

5 Anaerobic Exercise Intense bursts of activity in which the muscles work so hard that they produce energy without using oxygen EX. Sprints, resistance training

6 Isometric Exercise—activity that uses muscle tension to improve muscular strength with little or no movement of the body

7 Isotonic Exercise—activity that combines muscle contraction with repeated movement
Ex. Push-ups, lifting weights

8 Basal Metabolism The minimum amount of energy required to maintain life processes in the body BMR—the amount of calories we need in one day to remain alive at complete rest

9 FITT Principle EVERY WORKOUT SHOULD INCLUDE THE FITT PRINCIPLE
Frequency—how often you do the workout Intensity—how hard the workout is Time—how long Type—which component of fitness

10 Other Items Workouts Should Include:
Overload—working the body more than it is used to Progress—gradual increase in overload to increase fitness Specificity—particular activities that improve specific areas of fitness
