2 Our organisation – Lunch Positive
Weekly lunch club for people with HIV Formed in 2009, Registered Charity in 2010 Entirely voluntary Provides lunch, advice, information & hosts outreach, provides accessible volunteering Aims to combat food poverty, reduce social isolation, provide peer support, improve health & well being Annual budget of £30,000 Funded by trusts and foundations, and own income Carry out annual service use and volunteering evaluations & produce report

First requested by funders to varying degrees Important to inform work – not just an exercise Found training & support Took part in ‘Community Service Agreement’ Project Sought critical eyes. Tweaked and improved! Introduced annual programme with delegated roles Continue to access more training & networks Discuss & share widely with participants & stakeholders Increasingly needed to support & diversify funding

Keep it authentic & proportionate Learn & understand M&E terminology Look at other peoples reports Find out what other people do, ask questions Plan your activities & look at what can realistically be achieved Use tools that you’re confident with Share tools Be self critical Ask for help and advice Keep on keeping on – it soon becomes routine!

Comparative Costs Unit Costs Of Health & Social Care Index 2010, published by PSSRU - Personal Social Services Research Unit, University of Kent. Now gather this data but produce shorter Executive Summary.

7 Our Needs Today Increasingly sought by funders – competition even for small grants Costs of services, savings and returns on investment are increasingly considered especially by statutory funders Decline in donations and giving – encourages support Resources are stretched further – identifies areas for priority work & improvement Helps us talk with wide ranging stakeholders at different levels Consider M&E in all work, proportionately Informs and improves our work Provides evidence & strengthens case for maintaining existing funding, new work and funding
