1. Alaris® Auto-ID & Hand-Held Scanners
Recently we discovered that if the hand held scanner is damaged when pump is powered up---the auto-ID module disables and barcode scanning is not possible
If you receive the following error screen
Turn device off
Unplug hand held scanner and replace if possible, send damaged
one to Biomed
Turn device on and Auto-ID module is engaged and scanning is possible
We continue to work with
Care Fusion/Alaris® regarding this issue

2. Alaris® PCA Module
UIHC has had two incidents when two different patients were able to access the locked door on a PCA module.
The intent of this notice is to make you aware of the potential of this happening and may be a consideration if your syringe volume does not correlate with your patient’s PCA setting.
We continue to work with Care Fusion/Alaris® with this concern

3. Barcode Scanning Meds in the Alaris® Pump
What to do if Meds will not scan into the Alaris® pumps (SOP N )
Search drug in Guardrail® drug library or IV fluid in the Guardrail® IV library
If the drug is not in the drug libraries, utilize the volume over time, Basic Infusion function, as last option.
