Third Party Inspectors need to know the outgoing contractors obligations under the current contract Precise equipment list for vehicles being transferred and what is considered vehicle equipment. i.e. safety equipment, securements, spare tires Timeline for inspections and turnover to include re- inspection of repairs needed

Be very specific to the maintenance standards that are in the operating contract and include the contract language in bid information Be sure to reference inspection criteria to follow CVSA is a good Standard (Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance)

5 Define the term “normal wear and tear” as it fits your agency and equipment

6 Supply a Third Party Inspector Qualifications standard for staff used on your projects

Responsibility for cost analysis for deferred maintenance that is passed on, and how that is handled Inspections are very important operation to your Transit Asset Management plan, pictures of vehicles at time of inspection and defects should be part of your turnover inspections Are you as the agency supplying the inspection forms if so supply samples in bid documents or is the company chosen using their documents
