3 VIDEO SOURCES: Cameras – White Balance
White balancing is the process of matching your camera’s color settings to your lighting, in order to reproduce colors more accurately in your image.

4 Color temperature is expressed in Kelvin using the symbol K.

6 Framing VOCABULARY WORD: Rule of Thirds The rule of thirds is a guideline which applies to the process of composing visual images.  The guideline proposes that an image should be divided vertically and horizontally in to thirds, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.

Takes Graphics and Video inputs and switches and scales them to a Graphics output.

20 ME – Mix Effect The features of the switcher define what the ME is capable of. Cross point – two rows of buttons with the inputs on them. Top row = Program, pressing this button makes that input live immediately. Bottom row – Preview, pressing this button sends the input to the preview monitor.

23 AUX outputs An AUX output on a video switcher is an output from the switcher that you can route inputs to. (or sources from within the switcher, like an ME output.) It is independent of the ME. Changes to the AUX assignment will occur with a cut.

24 Keying – layering two images together
Keying is a feature of an ME. Video Link Luma Keying – Removes background based on the brightness of a pixel (white text on black background.) Chroma Keying – Removes background by color (green screen) Linear Keying – Uses two inputs, key and fill.

Video Link Director – Calls the shots Technical Director (TD) – Operates the switcher CCU Operator (Shader) – Operates CCU unites to match cameras Graphics Coordinator – Operates lyrics, slides, graphics Audio Engineer – Mixes audio for video Assistant Director (AD) – Reads the script, calls reminders.
