Meeting Training Requirements for GFSI Recognized Certification Programs

2 GFSI The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) plays an important role in Food Safety Management Systems Certification. It is managed by the Consumer Goods Forum Identified food safety requirements for certification programs Benchmarks certification programs against those requirements Recognizes programs that meet the requirements GFSI recognition is required by many or most retailers and manufacturers that are requesting certification of their suppliers.

Who must be trained? The project leader Management Food Safety or HACCP Teams Implementation teams Employees Internal Auditors

5 Project Leader SQF Practitioner FSSC Food Safety Team Leader
Each standard requires that one person is assigned responsibility for making sure the system is maintained. The standards assign specific responsibilities to this leader. This person is typically the project leader during implementation as well. SQF Practitioner FSSC Food Safety Team Leader BRC HACCP Team Leader

6 Project Leader: HACCP Training
SQF “Shall have completed a HACCP training course” FSSC “Shall have the responsibility and authority to manage a food safety team” BRC “Shall have an in-depth knowledge of HACCP”

7 Project Leader: Understanding the Standard Requirements
The project leader must also have a thorough understanding of the requirements to implement and maintain the system. Food Safety Management System Requirements Pre-requisite Program Requirements- programs to keep the facility and equipment in clean, sanitary conditions (GMPs)

Online training is an efficient and effective way to train. This is an example of our series of courses that will prepare your project leader. The courses are available For FSSC and SQF. They come in versions for food processors and food packaging manufacturers. Complete Online Training

10 Training on the Requirements
Train your project leader on both the requirements of the Management System Elements: Introduction to SQF System Elements Introduction to FSSC 22000 And the requirements for Prerequisite Programs: SQF Food Safety Fundamentals FSSC Prerequisite Programs

11 Training for Managing the Project
It is also important to train the project leader to design and implement the system. Learning to evaluate your current system and identify what must be added to meet the requirements of the standard is a good starting point. Have your project leader take the course: Conduction a Gap Analysis Available for SQF or FSSC 22000

Project steps and planning, checklists and document templates provide a great foundation for your system, and guidance on each step of the process so your project leader can lead with confidence. Register your project leader for: FSSC Templates and Implementation Tools Package Or SQF Templates and Implementation Tools Package

With the Templates and Tools package, your team has a documented system to use as a foundation for your system. Tutorials assist your team with guidance on how to customize these procedures, forms and prerequisite program tables to make them reflect your own system.

19 Train your Audit Team Your organization will also need to train an internal audit team. This team will play an important role in maintaining and improving the Food Safety Management System. Register your audit team members for Internal Auditor Training.

20 Train your Audit Team The online training will teach your auditors each step of the audit process. They will also conduct an audit of Mandy’s Vanilla so they can learn through experience as they complete the audit. The student is guided through the audit, and must evaluate documents and records from Mandy’s as well as asking questions of the employees. Everything is accessed online, and done on the students own schedule. They may come and go as needed.

21 Train your Audit Team Guidance and feedback are provided as the student follows the audit trail.

22 Training Certificates
Once a training course is completed, the student will complete a final quiz, and if successful will receive a training certificate. A student may review the training and retake the quiz if needed.
