Summer Activities for young people aged

2 Summerversity, Launchpad and/or the Summer Weekend Offer 2018
Islington Council, Youth and Play Service is seeking providers to submit proposals to deliver: Summerversity – Activities for young people aged Launchpad – Activities for young people aged 16 – 24 emphasis on opportunities that support young people to gain specific skills and experiences that can progress them towards employment, apprenticeships or further education. NEW: Summer Weekend Offer – activities offered on Friday and Saturday evenings over the summer holiday All of the above strands will be delivered within the school summer holiday

3 The aim of the programmes is to support young people to learn new skills, raise their ambitions and aspirations, develop new interests and try new experiences and opportunities. The courses and activities can be offered under one of the 4 broad themes: Arts, culture, music and performance Healthy lifestyles, physical activity and self-development Media, design and technology Skills for life, Business and Careers

4 Priorities for the summer offer:
introducing new opportunities for young people that are more unusual, harder to access or that are already not widely available opportunities and courses that specifically focus on young people’s employability skills and experiences and help them get an insight into different industries (Launchpad). i.e. taster sessions or short work experience opportunities into a range of different careers/sectors, including but not limited to, digital tech and media, arts and creative industries, hospitality, architecture and construction as well as other industries. opportunities which engage specific groups who may face particular challenges during the summer holiday period, when the protective factor of school is absent. (mental health and wellbeing issues, domestic violence or drug/alcohol dependency)

5 Total funding available: up to £160,000 across all streams (Summerversity, Launchpad, and/or Summer Weekend Offer across four themes up to £40,000 available in each theme Deadline for applications : 12 noon, 28 March 2018 Contract award notification: mid April Contract length: – 4 months June to September, includes mobilisation leading up to delivery, promotion and recruitment of young people to the programmes and time following delivery for evaluation and review

6 The proposals will be required to demonstrate:
the quality of the offer, innovation and creativity and how young people will be engaged through their communities, other organisations and schools to ensure effective uptake and retention of places. A range of innovative promotional and outreach activities (including taster sessions in schools and other youth settings, social media, etc) to make young people aware of the opportunities on offer and encourage them to sign up. Clear outcomes for young people and how young people’s development and achievements will be recognised and celebrated
