No appointment is needed for this service 10 minute consultations e.g. resume, selection criteria, cover letter reviews Monday-Friday 8.45am-5pm at the Bentley Campus Building 102, Curtin Connect Online job application reviews Submit documents through UniHub & feedback will be provided: unihub.curtin.edu.au Feedback takes approximately 5 business days (response time is occasionally longer during busy times, like the start of semester) Career planning is a very individual activity as we all want different things our of a career and have different things to offer. HDR students often have very specific or niche career plans and find generic career resources aren’t that helpful; so many of you may find one to one careers advice very useful. HDR Careers Consultant role (if it still exists?)

9 Summary Final year of research will be challenging, start researching potential career options early eGrad School – various free online courses specifically for research students e.g. ‘Developing you Career’ Academic positions are very competitive – a strategic plan is needed if this is going to be realistic – publish, be proactive in your department, build networks, collaborate Ensure you understand how to market your PhD, especially to industry – transferable skills & convey the practical application of your research (if relevant) Thesis Whisperer – blog for research students, careers related articles Careers, Employment & Leadership services are free for current students and up to 12 months after you graduate
