1 Monday, August 21, 2017 Homework: Quiz on Wednesday (See the blog for what’s on the quiz) Open your journals. Today you will be copying the rules on the 1st page that we left blank. Yes, some of the rules have changed from our first week of school. (Your grade is NOT based on these new rules!)

2 Copy the journal rules on the 1st page we left blank
Journals must be written neatly and legibly. 1 side of the paper only, skip lines in between journals, no more than 3 journal entries per page. Begin with the date written out at the margin in the following line. Your writing needs to be in sentences and paragraph formats. You need to address the topics and use the language of the questions or topics. Journals should be completed at home if not completed in class.

# 1 #2 Write a paragraph reflecting on your journal entries from the first week of school. Did you follow the topics? Did you write enough sentences with details? What would you do the same? What would you do differently? Skip 2 lines and glue your learning check from last week on the page. Write 3-4 sentences. What is important about the writing process? Why are hooks important? Reflect on your grade.

Does it seem strange to you to have so many students absent? We will be experiencing a total eclipse of the sun. Describe what you are expecting will happen and what you will see. What are your thoughts and feelings about a total eclipse? Be sure to use sensory language to create imagery for your readers!
