Institutional arrangements within universities (e.g., lines of authority, decision‐making processes, financing, and staffing). This depends on external governance, which “refers to the institutional arrangements on the macro‐ or system‐level (e.g., laws and decrees, funding arrangements, evaluations)” to define new research agenda and strategies”. (Leisyte, 2007, p. 23; Brunner, J.J. (2011); Kuhlmann, 2011; Whitley and Glaser, 2007.

How does the governance of research in university environments respond to demands of the scientific production -articles and journals- in Colombia –SJSC-?

The methodology to be used in this research follows an embedded case study approach (Yin, 2009) in multilevel environments and multiple cases: Three universities (central) of different types of ownership (public and private) active within the Colombian SJSC.
