8 What happened? The principal pulled two stories from the school newspaper. The students claimed their right to free speech (press) had been violated.

11 So what? School officials are free to censor student publications as long as those restrictions serve a valid educational purpose.

20 What happened? Florida’s votes were delayed because of problems with voting and counting the votes. The Florida Supreme Court ordered a hand recount.

21 The issue Did the lack of standards for manual recount of votes violate the “Equal Protection Clause” and due process rights in the 14th Amendment?

22 The decision The Supreme Court stopped the recount because there were no uniform standards.

23 So what? George W. Bush became President even though Al Gore having more popular votes.
