4 Extensibility Goals Provide an architecture for customers to extend the product in new and imaginative ways… Allow customers to easily add custom functionality to the product Support the creation custom reports tailored to specific customer needs Support custom data sources Support new FCO’s and solution wizards Support development of new ways to visualize important information Make the monitoring and analytics framework flexible – acknowledge that customers will use the product in ways it was never intended Provide opportunities to partners through a robust extensibility architecture WSS and MOSS

9 Project Overview Product Studio is a tool used within Microsoft to track bugs, features, and defects The Product Studio example solution should enable teams at Microsoft to monitor the status of these bugs and features by individual contributor The solution must utilize the PPS M&A extensibility architecture to create a dashboard Highlights many of the extensibility features discussed in this presentation This example will be used throughout this presentation

The PPS M&A engine converts this into fully qualified multidimensional data structure Built in tabular providers include SharePoint lists, Excel and Excel Services, and SQL tabular sources Time intelligence aggregations can be specified for well formed date-time column Limited to a few thousand rows
