2. Earth Layers
Look at the picture to the right. What layers do you recognize? What layers are new to you?
During the video, write down new 2 facts about each main layer in the “L” column.

3. What are the lithosphere and asthenosphere???
How do the layers of the Earth cause the plates to move?
Lithosphere: Made of the Crust & Upper Mantle. Broken into tectonic plates!
Asthenosphere: The layer of solid rock below the lithosphere that has so much pressure and heat the rocks can flow like a liquid. This causes the lithosphere plates to move.
Convection Currents: Rising and sinking of hot rock (magma) due to differences in density or temperature.
