COLLINS & AIKMAN “SUCCESFUL P2 IN THE BAY WATERSHED” TS 16949 FM 88168 ISO 14001 EMS 69515

2 PLANT DEMOGRAPHICS Global leader in cockpit modules and automotive floor and acoustic systems and is the primary supplier of interior plastic components for the Chrysler Manufacturing Plant in Newark Delaware; Havre de grace, located on ~12 acres ~1 mile from the Chesapeake Bay/ Susquehanna River; Employs 317 employees; 3 shift 5-7 days;

3 PLANT DEMOGRAPHICS

4 PLANT DEMOGRAPHICS Occupies a 165,000 ft2 single-story building;
21+ injection molding presses, which manufacture rigid plastic parts for assembly; and Vacuum forming and sequencing parts delivery operations; and various support areas, including the main offices, warehouse, maintenance, waste handling, plastic regrind and recycling.

5 ISO 14001 ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS
Registered early 2003 – 1.5 years, Systems approach to Operational Controls with potential impact on manufacturing, the community, as well as to the water shed, SA: Used Hydraulic Oil, SA: Legionella Bacteria. ISO 14001 EMS 69515

6 C&A ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT

To this end, we are committed to: COMPLIANCE Complying with relevant environmental laws, regulations, and other requirements to which this facility subscribes. PREVENTION Preventing pollution; reducing emissions to air, discharges to water, and the generation of solid wastes; reusing, recycling, and conserving natural resources. CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT Implementing and continually improving our Environmental Management System in order to minimize the environmental impacts of our activities, products, and services. 21 SPILL PREVENTION

22 SPILL RESPONSE

23 REDUCED NATURAL RESOURCE CONSUMPTION
20 of 21 Injection Presses have had “barrel blankets” installed to regulate their barrel temperature during tool changes and other down times, Each blanket represents ~$1,000 savings in power usage each year, Reduce overall heat load affecting the employee during hot summer months.

24 CARDBOARD/PAPER RECYCLING
All waste cardboard is separated by each department and sent to Waste Converters for incineration and eventual energy generation, In the coming months, we will be installing a vendor supplied bailer (FREE) and selling our waste cardboard to recyclers, This also represents a cost savings by not paying to have our cardboard shipped off site to Waste Converters.

25 V.O.C. REDUCTION Spray can puncturing system with V.O.C. filtering, collecting hazardous liquids, and can recycling, Substituted V.O.C. generating water-based adhesive with lower generating V.O.C. water-based adhesive almost negating need for permit.

26 PLASTIC RECYCLING 26,000 plastic parts manufactured per day,
In 2003 we recycled internally or sold externally 331 tons of plastic - $243,126, In 2004, we have added 3 new grinders increasing capacity for greater internal and external recycling opportunities, and Identified recyclers who will take our “contaminated” scrap – currently incinerated.

28 Sanctuary for water foul, frogs, turtles, deer, and even fish.
Recognized as a “Green Facility” by the City of Havre de Grace.
