Ignition Digital Citizenship Curriculum Lathrop Intermediate School Access For All – 1:1 Chromebook Program

2 The Santa Ana Unified School District provides accounts for students in grades 5-12 via our Google Apps for Education suite.  Students’ usernames will be their student ID number followed by @sausdlearns.net Students in grades 5-8 will only be able to communicate with other @sausdlearns.net accounts (e.g. with other students or their instructors).  Google accounts

3 Access for All & Digital Literacy
Legislation requires that schools educate students and staff about Internet safety and the ethical and appropriate use of information.  As part of the Access for All Initiative, students must demonstrate their understanding of Digital Literacy 3 modules of Ignition must be completed to meet the requirement. Module 4- Internet Resources and Credibility Module 5- Creating Multimedia Products Module 7- The Future of Technology and You Teachers will facilitate student’s completion of all three modules. The course is online and students work independently. Each module takes 30 – 60 minutes to complete and has a short quiz at the end. Students must pass each module with a score of at least 70%. Use the drop-down menus to select your birthday. a. Type your first and last name in the boxes provided. b. c. Type your SAUSD address in here. d. Type your 6-digit ID number This will be your Username Type your birthday in both boxes. This will be your password. e. If student’s account (6-digit ID) is no longer available to create an account, use 0 then their 6-digit ID number. Example: username: is no longer available, student will use this as new username. Make sure you check this box, before clicking “Next” f.

Students should click on the blue CONTINUE button on the bottom right side under the title of Ignition:

Welcome- explanation of the course and how to proceed. Students will then click on the first module they need to complete, which is Wireless Communication.

8 Before students begin a module the program may direct students to an extensive survey.
Students will not spend time doing this survey as it is unnecessary. Students should click on “Continue” in order to bypass this feature. Students will need to click “Continue” on each page of the survey. Students under the age of 13 will not be presented with this feature. Important tip

9 Each module has a map with balloons for the individual topics covered- students click through the balloons- listening and doing the activities. The last balloon is a post check- the quiz that shows they passed the unit. The report will not show a module is complete until all the activities are done and they pass the quiz or post check. They can retake the quiz as many times as necessary. As a teacher, you will be able to see the report, but it is the whole grade level in one class report.
