6 The History of the Punk Movement The punk subculture emerged in the mid-1970s. The punk subculture is centred around listening to recordings or live concerts of a loud, aggressive genre of rock music called punk rock, usually shortened to punk. Punks seek to shock others with the highly theatrical use of clothing, hairstyles, cosmetics, tattoos, jewellery and piercings.

7 The Clown Punk By Simon Armitage
In your opinion, how old is the man presented in the poem? Referring back to lines 3-4, how does Armitage present The Clown Punk character?

8 Discuss the man’s current situation.
‘The shonky side of town’ ‘Think what he’ll look like in thirty years’ time’ ‘Every pixel of that man’s skin is shot through with indelible ink’ ‘And let it rain.’
