Netherlands has competitive advantage in these sectors Namibia is a small, open economy that depends on services to grow Namibia is well situated, with good infrastructure and facilities, to grow into a regional services hub Services jobs create a regionally competitive position and high level of skills

3 Agri-food – State of Play
NL big market for Namibian fish, meat and grapes Namibia a market for NL poultry, powder milk, inputs Currently sector is 6-7% of GDP. Deeper value chains needed Need water saving and productivity enhancing technology Local content requirement recently increased Currently 96% of fresh fruit and 50% of other horticulture products imported Large untapped underground water reserves in the North Land reform – Large need for agri skills and extension services

Climate Smart Agriculture – farming in arid conditions, water saving Agri-inputs and Agri-processing technology and education Joint Ventures for value addition and EU market access across the whole sector Fresh logistics and packaging Export of high quality, organic, free range and hormone free products into EU Value adding processing of fish and export to the Netherlands

5 Services Sector – State of Play
62% of the Namibian economy, employing half the labour force Tourism constitutes about 14% of GDP and is the fastest growing sector of the economy Tourism creates many jobs, also in remote parts of the country Direct flight KLM several times a week + 6 other major carriers First world infrastructure, 4G internet, roads, ports and airports Namibia aspires to be transport hub. Needs fast clearing and logistics systems

Opportunities in Tourism and Logistics Operatorships in ports, maritime and offshore service industry Tourism sector is in need of payment systems, marketing services and investment to scale-up and expand Shortage of hotel/lodge beds and conference facilities Green and eco-tourism Logistics pre-clearance management systems

IT structure + regulatory framework Narrow IT value chain. Opportunity for growth IT skills available AND LOw COST OF ENTRY
