2 What is a bacteria? Single-celled prokaryote(no nucleus)

3 What is a virus? Non-living biological particle
Can not reproduce on its own!!! Uses host cells for reproduction Does not use energy!! Made of protein and nucleic acids(DNA or RNA)

4 How do viruses infect us?
Lytic Cycle- causes quick viral replication(flu) Lysogenic Cycle- causes a delayed viral replication(HIV)

5 How do we defend ourselves?
Active Immunity Development of anti-bodies after first infection 1) Natural- anti-bodies created by immune system 2) Artificial- anti-bodies stimulated by a vaccine Passive Immunity Development of anti-bodies during pregnancy Anti-bodies are passed from mother to child
