Zonta District 10 Rose Award 2018 Elizabeth Mederos Zonta Club of Parker County Graduating from Weatherford College in with an Associate of Social Work degree. Transferring to Tarleton State University to complete her bachelor degree.

3 District 10 YWPA Educational Award 2018
Jenny Ha Zonta Club of Central OK Central OK Winner = $1,000 D10 Winner = $1,000 ZI Winner = $5,500 Total scholarship $ = $7,500! Jenny Ha is was the YWPA winner for the Central Oklahoma club. She went on to win the D10 YWPA scholarship and is one of the winners of the ZI YWPA scholarship! Her scholarship dollar amount from Zonta is a whopping well-deserved $7500! Jenny is a first generation college student working toward earning a degree in international business with a minor in Korean. She hopes to earn a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She has plans for a career in advertising for multinational corporations. She also would like to serve in the Peace Corps or teach English abroad. Later she hopes to work at the United Nations or at a U.S. Embassy. At Western Heights High School Jenny became an unofficial guidance counselor, with just 13 other teens around the country, serving on former First Lady Michelle Obama’s National Student Advisor Board for the Better Make Room project mobilizing her peers to build college-enrolling, college-persisting, and college-graduating cultures at their schools and on their campuses. Jenny spent over 700 hours volunteering in her community at various locations and events, including the Metropolitan Library, the Myriad Botanical Gardens and helping out with the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. This summer Jenny studied abroad in South Korea, having received the U.S. State Department National Security Language Initiative For Youth scholarship. Jenny has an understanding about gender equality issues facing women and girls around the world and has an interest in equal opportunities for women when it comes to education. She believes that education is the great equalizer which enables all young people to reach their full potential and change the future for the better.

Heidi Johnson Garland, Texas Brigham Young University in Mechanical Engineering Plans to pursue Masters of Environmental Engineering Focus on helping the environment through improving utilization of renewable resources such as solar panels and wind turbines, creating a cleaner, more efficient world 2019 Application has been updated by the District Board: Undergraduate female student living in or attending college within the District 10 geographical boundaries currently enrolled in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) No fewer than 30 college hours with strong academic achievement (3.00 CGPA on a 4.00 scale) Deadline for 2019 application will be July 1, 2019

7 Zonta International Women in Technology Scholarship Award
Background & Eligibility Criteria, Amount & Deadlines Background The world becoming increasingly digitized Women still largely underrepresented in in Technology Women need to secure active roles in technology & technological developments Encourage women to pursue opportunities and leadership roles in technology Launching this pilot program during Zonta’s centennial biennium shows innovation Criteria Academic performance or evidence of completed trainings and outstanding performance – 40% Essay or reason for applying and description of desired career – 25% Volunteer work and/or description of current job with information about path to that job – 25% Recommendations (Professor/Employer) – 10% Scholarship Amount The scholarship will be awarded in the biennium as a pilot program. Club: Club award and amount determined by club District/Region: 32 scholarships, US$2,000 each International: 6 scholarships, US$8,000 each The ZI Foundation Board approved total funding of US$112,000 to be disbursed from the Rose Fund. Application Deadlines May 1 Club Deadline August 1 WIT District Deadline October 1 WIT International Deadline Mid-November WIT announcement Eligibility Women pursuing an information technology (IT) degree or closely related program who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field Women not enrolled in a university are also eligible as long as they submit: Evidence of completed trainings and outstanding performance Description of current job with information about path that led to that job Employer confirmation and recommendation Reason for applying and description of desired career Golden Z club members may apply
