2 Choosing AP or CHS CHS AP
The AP Program allows students to take national college level courses and exams, and to earn college credit or placement while still in high school Students seeking credit through their AP exam scores should note that individual college and universities, not the College Board, the AP Program, or the high school, grant course credit and placement CHS College in High School allows students to simultaneously earn high school and college credit by completing courses at their high school Credit is awarded from that college or university when the student purchases and passes the course. Some CHS courses require a certain letter grade and/or test score to earn the college credit

3 Choosing AP or CHS AP TEACHERS & COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE
Taught by SV teachers trained by The College Board Accepted nationally See individual college or university for their AP policy CHS TEACHERS & COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE Taught by SV teachers who are approved by the credit granting college or university Accepted by most colleges and universities See individual institution for their Transfer Credit Policy and intended major’s academic requirements

4 Choosing AP or CHS AP CHS LOCATION & ELIGIBILITY
AP courses are taught at SV Open to SV students who meet SV’s prerequisites and/or co-requisites CHS LOCATION & ELIGIBILITY CHS courses are taught at SV in collaboration with several local colleges and universities Open to SV students who meet SV’s prerequisites and/or co-requisites. Some courses may have additional requirements through the degree granting institution

5 Choosing AP or CHS AP CHS COST, TEXTBOOKS & WEIGHTED QPA IMPACT
All AP courses are free however, there is a cost for the AP exam Textbooks if applicable provided by SV 0.35 add-on in QPA calculation CHS COST, TEXTBOOKS & WEIGHTED QPA IMPACT Most CHS courses are free at SV. However, there is a cost to receive college credit Possible textbook purchase required, depending on the course and the institution granting credit 0.25 add-on in QPA calculation
