2 CHANGES TO THE TIMETABLE
4 classes of 70 minutes each Addition to the schedule ‘FLEX’ block 40 minutes long Between period 2 and 3 Purpose of FLEX block Focused support

3 GRAD REQUIREMENTS 80 credits
At least 16 credits must be at the Grade 12 level, including a required Language Arts 12 At least 28 credits must be elective course credits  52 credits are required from the following: Two Career Education courses (8 credits total) Planning 10 or Career Life Education, and Grad Trans Physical and Health Education 10 (4 credits) Science 10 (4 credits), and a Science 11 or 12 (4 credits) Social Studies 10 (4 credits), and a Social Studies 11 or 12 (4 credits) A Math 10 (4 credits), and a Math 11 or 12 (4 credits) A Language Arts 10, 11 & 12 (12 credits total) An Arts Education 10, 11, or 12 and/or an Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies 10, 11, or 12 (4 credits total)

4 IN ADDITION TO GRAD REQUIREMENTS
Graduation Numeracy Assessment The Graduation Numeracy Assessment (GNA) is based on mathematical concepts learned across multiple subjects from kindergarten to Grade 10, with an emphasis on K–9. It requires students to solve problems by using the five numeracy processes (different ways of thinking and working): interpret, apply, solve, analyze and communicate. It is highly recommended to visit assessment/graduation/numeracy#pre to prepare

5 ACADEMIC PROBATION What is academic probation?
Close monitoring by counsellor and admin When is a student placed on academic probation? Student requires all this year’s courses to graduate Student’s graduation trajectory is off target, courses in multiple grades (10-12) Letter is given to student and parent, transparency Student is placed on grade 11 roster If you would like a copy of your unofficial transcript, please contact your counsellor.

6 FUNDRAISING; School based and committee
Establish a parent lead fundraising committee Sign up at the end of the evening , set first meeting School based: Plant Sales Poinsettias and Spring Dessert Theatre vs Spaghetti Dinner Hallway Monitor Cafeteria Helper Other; Bottle drives Halloween event

7 APPRENTICESHIP/WORK EXPERIENCE/POST SECONDARY OPPORTUNITIES

8 SCHOLARSHIPS Local Scholarships & Bursaries What you will need:
  Packages will be ready between December 2018 – January (depending on local donors)   Amounts can vary from   $200   to   $2000 each   Total from community approximately $55,000 What you will need: resume / cover letter 2 letters of reference Letter of acceptance (not a requirement, but helpful) Packages are due Tuesday, March 12th, 2019

9 SCHOLARSHIPS Post-Secondary Institution Entrance Scholarships & Bursaries February to April Can vary from   $1000  to  $25000 Check post-secondary websites Mrs. Wilkins puts every scholarship / bursary opportunity on the Grade 12 Graduation Facebook page. Private scholarships may be found at or by searching on the Internet for Canadian Scholarships.
