1. Wood Ley CP School JRSO Squad
Our names are Emily, Charlie and Jamie and we are the JRSO Squad for Wood Ley CP School in Stowmarket. We have conducted various events and assemblies throughout the year to raise awareness about road safety at our school and within the local community.

2. Community Work Cycle Route 51
We noticed that some damage had been done to the Cycle Route 51,which runs beside our school and had left a very dangerous piece of metal that could have caused an injury to someone. We worked with the school office team to report the incident and try to get the damage fixed.

3. Faded Road Traffic Signs
What does this say?
We also noticed that the school signs on the way to the school were faded and unreadable. We wrote to the Highways Agency to try to address the situation and get them replaced.

4. Police Intervention
The Police were due to visit our school so we spoke to Mrs Renwick [our head teacher] and asked if the police would speak to our parents and relatives who continually parked in a dangerous places.

5. Every month the school produces a school newsletter and we decided to publish advice on how to complain about a vehicle that may potentially be parked in a dangerous or illegal place. This would help the local community to assist in stopping some of the parking issues outside the school.

6. We also decided to run a competition to design a new road safety sign that would have some space on it for the road safety message of the week. This would help us to get across important road safety information as the parents and children left the school on their way home.

7. Beast from the East
Throughout the whole year we have been patrolling the school car park before and after school ensuring that the children and their parents are safe coming to and from school. We have solved a number of problems from children being separated from their parents to helping with first aid. We even tamed the Beast from the East which did not stop us from carrying out our duty.

8. Unfortunately, the damage on route 51 and the faded road signs have not been resolved.
