3. Prewriting The first step of the writing process.
The prefix “pre-” means “before.” Therefore, prewriting is the step before formal writing occurs.

Use the C.U.P.S. Strategy to correct grammatical errors that make your sentences unclear to the reader.
C-capitalization-Capitalize the first word in EVERY sentence, and capitalize proper nouns.
U-understanding-INDENT at the beginning of EVERY paragraph so that the reader understands when one topic ends and the next topic begins.
P-punctuation-Use periods, exclamation points, question marks, commas, and quotation marks correctly.
S-Spelling-Use the DICTIONARY to check the spelling of commonly confused and misspelled words.

11. Publishing The fifth and final step of the writing process.
Rewrite your essay using the improvements and corrections made during the revising and editing steps.
