10 [4] Thinking tells us: what there is what is happening what our problems are what our options are what threatens us what is important what is unimportant what our “history” is who we are

11 [5] Everything we know, believe, want, fear and hope for, our thinking tells us.

12 How can the definition of critical thinking help you solve this problem? Connect the 9 dots using 4 straight lines. Once you start drawing the lines, do not stop until all 9 dots have been connected. Task 3

22 One can become a Critical Thinker by:
listening carefully to others and giving feedback observing with an open mind making assertions based on sound logic and solid evidence sharing ideas with others engaging in active reading and active listening!

23 To make an inference or not to make an inference,
that is the question!

24 What is an inference anyway?

25 To infer is to take a critical look at what you are reading and make an assumption based on your own experiences.

26 When do we use inference?

27 When inferring, we are using all clues to draw conclusions about what is being read.
When predicting, we think of what will happen based upon the text, the author, and background knowledge.

28 In reading comprehension, we are picturing the events and asking ourselves questions about the text.

29 We find clues in the text and can make judgments, to answer questions based on what we know from our experiences.

30 Read the following examples and write a list when we infer.
Task 5 Read the following examples and write a list when we infer.

31 General Sense Murderers are usually incarcerated
for longer periods of time than robbers. You may infer the meaning of incarcerated by answering a pertinent question "What usually happens to those found guilty of murder or robbery?”
