2 66 AD: ORIGINS OF THE CONFLICT
Murder of two priests Refusal to make sacrifices to Roman Empire

3 67 AD: THE WAR BEGINS Romans quickly capture more land under Vespasian.

4 68 AD: A YEAR OF CHANGE Nero, then the Roman Emperor, commits suicide.
A civil war breaks out in Rome, putting the Jewish-Roman War on hold.

5 69 AD: TITUS TAKES CONTROL
Vespasian’s son Titus is named general. He comes up with a new plan of attack: attack Jerusalem itself.

6 70 AD: INVASION OF JERUSALEM
Jews attack siege engines and more rebels join the fight. This inspires Titus to attack the Temple in Jerusalem.

7 70 AD: THE BURNING OF THE TEMPLE
Many lives were lost, including old men and young children alike. This is considered the climax of the attack on Jerusalem.

8 74 AD: THE END OF THE WAR The remaining rebels were in hiding for three years at a fort called Masada. After the Jews surrendered the fort, the war is considered to be over.
