4 Christianity  Followers known as the “ Messiah People ” (Christians)  At first viewed as a small Jewish sect  Romans wanted to eradicate them –Eventually Rome got on board  Churches and cathedrals built –People converting

5 Revolt  Jews Revolt –Jews tired of Roman cruelty –First Revolt (AD 66)  Jews crushed –Jerusalem destroyed –Temple demolished  Western/Wailing Wall left –Romans keep going until all ruined –AD 70, Diaspora (dispersion/scattering)

7 Revolt, continued  Jews revolt again b/t AD 132 and 135 –Wanted to worship at Temple ruins  Romans destroyed remains, built new capital, and banned Jews –Romans killed Jewish leaders and destroyed communities  Jews scattered again and Jerusalem closed to them
