9 Additional interventions
Ran Naviance report of student’s log-in activity, and called in each student who had logged in less then three times since they opened their account sophomore year for an individual meeting (10-15 minutes). Went into all 13 Senior English classes twice to review college application questions, demonstrate Naviance features, and discuss adult learning programs at the Oaks. Went into 3 Senior English classes a third time to present for 10 minutes on writing college application essays Gave presentation to parents at an evening event covering Naviance, technical school opportunities, and the college application process.

10 Goals Over Arching Goal: For every student to have a post-secondary learning or training plan that is set before graduation. Qualitative Goal: To shift the senior class mentality of fear and over-dependence regarding their post-high school planning to one of excitement, initiative and independence. Quantitative Goals: (1) to increase student's understanding of how Naviance can help them with their college and career planning so that all participants mark a 7 or above on a 10 point Likert scale with 10 being "completely“ and 1 being "not at all,“ (2) to increase the number of colleges to which college-bound participants wanted to apply by 2, and (3) to increase the participant's usage of Naviance at 2 weeks after the intervention by 200%

11 Milford high school Mission Statement: providing an education of the highest quality, inspiring and empowering each student to be a life-long learner and a contributing member of a diverse and ever-changing society. Of the 2014 graduating class: 82% went on to 2 or 4 year colleges, 3% went into the military (2 received military appointments), and 15% went directly into the workforce.

12 Student data Student Data From DASL – Retrieved at beginning of semester to disaggregate with college application progress to ensure middle and lower achieving students are being reached Student Data From Naviance “Student Usage Report” tracks each student’s time spent on Naviance “Applications by Student” and “Applications by College” show how what schools have been identified by each student that they will be applying to, as well as what applications have been submitted by student. “Assessment Status” shows what students have taken the career and interest inventories.

13 Survey data

14 Stakeholder: teachers
Stakeholder: Parents An ed Parent Survey first at the beginning of September, and followed up in the middle of November Stakeholder: teachers Interview data retrieved through regular communication with English teachers both before and after in-class presentations

15 Limitations and Things I would change
1. Add to the Needs Assessment, ‘I have concerns about’ section: Choosing a college or technical school Completing the college application process Add to the Naviance Session post-assessment: I would like to set up a meeting with a school counselor to discuss my college or technical school applications Administer the pre and post Naviance Assessment to students coming in for individual meetings. It has taken over a month to enter all of the needs assessment data into a spreadsheet (1100 responses 10th-12th grade). We need a new plan.
