1 Patcharint Kaenjak

2 You All Know the answers to these questions, but take a moment to think about them.
Has the Church previously given counsel that we should study the gospel at home? Family Home Evening Has the Church ever suggested that parents are responsible for teaching their children the gospel? Doctrine and Covenants 68:25 The concept of gospel study at home is NOT NEW.

3 Teaching and learning is being refocused in the Lord’s Church

4 Home CENTERED and CHURCH SUPPORTED
We are responsible for our own conversion and testimony. The work of the Church is to bring people unto Jesus Christ and provide for them the ordinances of salvation.

5 Home CENTERED and CHURCH SUPPORTED

8 Doctrine and Covenants 88:122
“One challenge with the new curriculum is getting people not to teach ‘the old way,’” said Bishop Boyd Roberts. “We’ve got to stop simply disseminating information, get out of the way, and let the Spirit teach.” Doctrine and Covenants 88:122 “Appoint among yourselves a teacher, and let not all be spokesmen at once; but let one speak at a time and let all listen unto his sayings, that when all have spoken that all may be edified of all, and that every man may have an equal privilege.”

9 Teacher Councils Was a preparatory step for the introduction of “Come Follow Me” What was a key goal for the “Teacher Council” effort? It’s goal was and is to urge and inspire church members to study the gospel at home prior to engaging in discussions at church.

10 In the words of Elder Rasband, and the Experiences of Others……..

16 THE New Manuals

17 THE New Manuals Each Manual Has a Lesson for Every Week (except the week prior to General Conference) Each Lesson has no number, but rather a date indicating when that lesson should be studied. The first lesson has this date: December 31 – January 6 The first date is a Monday, the last is the Sunday on which the lesson will be presented at Church.

18 We WILL STICK STRICTLY TO the Dates
January 6 is a Sunday School Sunday – the Sunday School lesson that day will be the one labeled December 31-January 6. January 13 is a Priesthood/RS/YM/YW Sunday. There is a Sunday School lesson for that day, but since there is no Sunday School that lesson will never be taught. Sunday School teachers may present an introduction to that lesson the previous Sunday to encourage us to study that lesson. Since Primary is held every week the lesson for January 7-13 will be taught in Primary on January 13.

19 Stake / General Conference SUNDAYS
Our Stake Conferences are as follows: January 20 – A Sunday School Sunday June 9 – A Priesthood/R.S. YM, YW Sunday There are lessons in the manuals for these Sundays, but in our stake these lessons will not be taught. General Conference will be held: April 7 October 6 Both are Sunday School Sundays – There are no lessons in the manuals leading up to these Sundays. Note: Much of the Eastern Hemisphere (except Europe) views Conference the week after we do, via DVDs shipped from SLC. Their General Conference Sundays will be MP/RS/YM/YW Sundays.

20 Ideas for Singles See if you can find others similarly situated that are interested in studying together. After my father died, my Mom organized a group of single Sisters who met every Monday night, studied the scriptures and then played Yahtzee.
