2 John 8:1-12   Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. (Place!) 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman (where is the man?) taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act (her sin specified..)

3 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?(Knew what the law said) 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.(What did he write?) 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.(what did he write this time? Not told) It is hard to teach someone who is set in his or her own way!

4 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. (All convicted of their own sin!) 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more Often people who are guilty of sin are very hard on other people With sin…maybe not as bad as their own sin!

5 12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying,
I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

20 Glory to God---I Saw the light…
Have you seen the light? Heb. 12:1-2

21 Where there is Light there is no darkness
Where there is darkness, there is no light.

22 It is a glorious thing to be living in the light, and not groping in darkness.
Paul told the Ephesians “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord…” Ephesians 5:8). He told the Colossians in Col 1:13 – He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.    But Jesus’ words are designed to describe, not just our blessed position, but our serious responsibility. We not only have received the “light” of the gospel of Christ, we have become reflectors of that light.  The world must see God in us, and through us.
