Open your textbooks to pg 49 You will work with partners and as a team you will need to take the following into the lab: a. lab sheet b. clip board c. meter stick d. blank sheet of paper e. pencil f. compass

4 INSTRUCTIONS FOR FINAL SKETCH & STORY:
SEPTEMBER 30, 2016 INSTRUCTIONS FOR FINAL SKETCH & STORY: Find your group number and sit in that section. Today you will work with your investigation team on both the sketch and the “Crime Story”. *FIRST make sure your rough sketch is completed with all contents. Guidelines for Sketch: Draw to Scale: 50cm=1cm Make sure it is neat Include all objects in the room Include the following: *legend *date *address *all investigators names *Rm # of Crime Scene Measurements (objects w/ fixed points & length and width of the room Include the compass (N, S, E, W) Make sure you use a ruler so that all lines are straight. Darken your lines after using pencil first.

5 1. The first two digits of the case number are used to indicate the year the case was filed.
2. The third digit is used to designate the case type. 3.The next series of digits is the actual sequential number of the case beginning from in the current year. 4. The last digit of the case number is called a check digit and is used by the computer to verify the correctness of the previous digits. Example: Case number shows that the case was the 42nd criminal case filed in The check-digit is seven. Case Types 1 Criminal *6 Mental Illness/Alcohol 2 Civil *7 Juvenile Dependency 3 Domestic Juvenile Offender 4 Probate/Guardianship Judgment *5 Adoption/Paternity *Restricted Case Types--not available for public access.

6 Guidelines for the Crime Story:
One page Story explaining what exactly happened leading up to the crime as well as the crime itself. Include information from the lab that would explain objects found at the crime scene as well as the state of the crime scene. Keep your stories “school appropriate” Include names of individuals involved Specific place w/in the location where crime took place Time crime took place Weapon used Were there any witnesses? If so who & how many? What evidence was found at the crime scene? Description of victim Point of entry and exit of the criminal(s) Possible motive-reason for the crime *Use MLA format for the paragraphs (DS, Times New Roman, 12 font), but not for heading. Only include group names and group number (single spaced).
