Increase collaboration – businesses, community orgs
Spread good news!
We have many ambitious goals this year. I'll just highlight three broad themes
We'd like to promote student achievement
While the administrators work hard to provide high quality instruction to our students
The PTSO would like to complement those efforts by generating even more energy around academic achievement
A GPA challenge was pretty successful last spring, and we'd like to expand that effort
We need to think creatively about ways to improve academic achievement, which could happen through small teams of families working together in a way we haven't before
We'd like to expand awareness of college and career resources
There's a lot to know about the college application process
The financial aid process changed recently -
Don't miss tomorrow's workshop on financial aid.
Get information from the US Dept of Education, and our very own guidance department
We'd like to increase collaboration and engagement within Bowie HS and with our neighbors
I want to make a special acknowledgement of Ms. Prince for making her staff available to support special PTSO initiatives last year, we are certainly aiming for even more collaboration going forward
I also want to acknowledge Rachael Troianos from the Bowie Library - and Natalie Smart from the Bowie Community Center. Together with the PTSO, we are collaborating on brand new programs for teenagers. Please see them for more information before you leave
Lastly, we want to find more opportunities to broadcast the good things happening at Bowie HS far and wide
