2 Third Declension Adjectives
So far, the adjectives we’ve learned belong to the first and second declensions: bonus, bona, bonum sacer, sacra, sacrum latus, lata, latum The 3 forms correspond to masculine, feminine, and neuter nominative forms.

3 Third Declension Adjectives
Our new group of adjectives belong to 3rd declension. Third declension adjectives decline like 3rd declension i-stem nouns, except that they all use –i instead of –e in the ablative singular (like the neuter i-stem nouns do). Let’s see what some of these adjectives look like in your vocabulary list…

4 Third Declension Adjectives
celer, celeris, celere: swift, quick facilis, facile: easy, doable fortis, forte: strong, brave omnis, omne: all, every par, paris (gen.): equal, equal to (+ dat.) BUT WAIT! Why don’t they all have 3 forms, like our old –us,-a,-um friends from long ago?

celer, celeris, celere facilis, facile fortis, forte omnis, omne par, paris (gen.) Just because all 3 genders aren’t listed doesn’t mean they don’t exist. celer, celeris, celere facilis, facilis, facile fortis, fortis, forte omnis, omnis, omne par, par, par Often the masculine/feminine forms are identical, so they’re only listed once, like in facilis, fortis and omnis.

Here’s what “omnis, omne” looks like on its adjective chart. Most charts combine masculine/feminine into 1 column labeled “M/F”---it saves space. Singular M F N omnis omnis omne omnis omnis omnis omni omni omni omnem omnem omne Plural omnes omnes omnia omnium omnium omnium omnibus omnibus omnibus

Just as we saw when dealing with 1st/2nd declension adjectives with 3rd declension nouns, you can have the combo of 1st/2nd declension nouns with 3rd declension adjectives.
