Never married or had any children Intelligent, serious, quiet, thoughtful and had a wild imagination Worked unsuccessfully as a bookseller, an art dealer, and a preacher Was not famous when he was alive

3 Art Began to paint at 27 years old
Became interested in art when he worked in his uncle’s galleries His painting style was called Post-Impressionism He produced 860 paintings and over 1,300 sketches and prints He only sold 1 painting while alive Now his paintings sell for millions of dollars
