How did Theodore Roosevelt contribute to the Progressive Era?

Throughout Theodore Roosevelt’s (TR’s) presidency, many of his actions showed that he believed the president should act in the interest of the public. President Theodore Roosevelt (1901–1909)

TR believed in consumer protection and pushed for the passage of the Meat Inspection Act and Pure Food and Drug Act in 1906.

TR was known as a “trustbuster”, breaking up trusts that he thought were bad for the U.S. economy.

TR supported better working conditions for workers and was one of the first presidents to support striking workers. Coal Strike of 1902
