13 Cross References The book is full of references to Old Testament artifacts such as the tabernacle, the altar, and the ark; and people such as Balaam and Jezebel; and places such as Egypt, Sodom, Jerusalem, and Babylon. Of 404 verses 278 contain some form of Old Testament reference (Swete) Verse 19 of chapter 1 is possibly the purpose statement for the book to show things having been seen, things that are, and things that will be Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this.
