1 „Christmas In Poland” Julia Karpińska , 4b

2 Christmas Time.. Christmas is the time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is an important season in Poland and the preparations for Christmas begin many days before. It is a time when people are kind, helpful and lucky.

3 CHRISTMAS TREE It is a tree, which people put in every home, public places and sometimes even on the streets. Christmas tree is decorated with baubles, colorful chains, self-made decoration and glowing lights. It is a beautiful decoration of many places.

4 Christmas Eve, Wigilia Christmas Eve is the most important day of Christmas. On that day the whole family get together and eat Christmas Eve supper. The supper includes 12 traditional dishes. In Polish traditions there is no meat, but fishes, usually carp. The supper begins with the breaking of the Opłatek. In Poland, there is additional seat for somebody unknown at the super’s table. Christmas Eve ends with Pasterka, the Midnight Mass, at the local church.

6 Santa Claus During the Christmas Eve Santa Claus brings presents and put them under the Christmas tree. After the supper, someone in family give presents to others . Everyone is happy and together they sing Christmas carols.
