2 WHERE DID IT START? The genre was really discovered after the classic western, ”The Great Train Robbery” in 1903. The genre really began in 1912 with D.W Griffith’s The Musketeers of pig ally. it was Raoul Walsh's 1915 film “THE REGENERATION” introduced us the graphic violence of gangster life.

3 Beginning of an era It was in 30’s gangster films Were more popular
Little Caesar (1930) The Public Enemy (1931) Scarface: The Shame of a Nation (1932) Al Capones favourite film was apparently Rouben Mamoulians 1931 “city life”

4 SCORSESE & COPPOLA Gangster films turns into more true based stories and got more violent. Then there was the introduction to scorsese and Coppola in the 70’s. The Godfather and Mean Streets

5 TODAYS GANGSTERS FILMS
In today’s films they are a lot more character depth, detail to characters and more violence. However it seams that Scorsese is the leading director in this genre.

6 Conclusion So for over 80 years this film genre is still one of the most successful types of genre Also expands on the whole meaning of organised crime. So the whole meaning of gangster films all come to this conclusion: To persuit the “American dream” with success stories turned upside down. In which criminals live in an invented dream world of success and wealth.
